unpredictably diverting, energetic year ahead.
GENERAL OVERVIEW : what is happening that excites me :
All indicators point to a volatile year of
unprecedented and somewhat unpredictable change, from the personal thru
to global levels - we can make it positive change - our choice.
The
major systems operating the people side of the planet are being pushed
to keep up what is increasingly untenable -and they are getting
grumpier, eg, bullying rather than persuading us to continue
conforming.
Massive pressures are mounting
against those economic, politic, social and cultural practices and
values that no longer work for our future, eg, the American and
Japanese economies hover on the brink of irreversible collapse - short
term disaster for long term healing.
Heavies
recognize that a huge shift is inevitable, but are determined to keep
the old systems going for as long as profitable, eg, create a war or
two, whatever...
Old system is so
unsustainable we can now see their machinations eg, massive currency
manipulations by biggest global trading banks; tariff protections.
Governments are demonstrating their subordination to
Big Biz, and have lost any sense of integrity or working for the common
good, eg, opinion polls show politicians now least trustworthy of all
occupations
Our institutions are falling
apart from lack of courageous leadership to defy the economic
rationalism of Big Biz, eg, we educate for Big Biz, we medically treat
for Big Biz, we maintain laws for Big Biz.
As
consumers, we are only slowly realizing that we are ultimately morally
responsible for what happens to our planet and to each other, eg,
humungous numbers of action groups demanding or creating change are
forming in every nation.
And the GOOD NEWS is :
The new paradigm is born, is alive, and is thriving. Yes :-) ! Every
day I receive more messages thru the Net from individuals and groups
living the new, and thriving - reaching new heights of achievement,
passions, excitement, energy.
Some projects are big, such as creating ecosustainable villages;
some individuals doing one thing different in their crowded frenetic
lives, be it spending more time with their loved ones or riding a
bicycle to work.
It doesn't matter how big the action or how many people involved,
because it is all about adding good energy while ignoring unhealthy
energy. In our quantum world, nanobits of good stuff can make a huge
impact on the whole. Just do what you can - it is making a difference !

Aussies have historically tended to be a passive lot except when it
comes to football or cricket. Trend watchers around the world are
noticing that everyone, regardless of how traditionally passive, are
now demanding more interactivity and involvement in decisions affecting their lives.

LEISURE TIME
49 hours per week people say they
work. Since 1973, the median number has jumped 8 hours from 41. Leisure
time has dropped from 26 to 19 hours a week over the same period.
MUSIC
20 million consumers a month download songs off the Internet.
Meanwhile, record sales dropped 9 percent in 2002 and 2 percent in 2003
to below 700 million.
INTERNET
20 million Americans go online in a typical day, an increase of 27 percent since 2000.
TV
12 percent fewer male viewers age 18 to 34 tuned into network prime
time during the fall 2003 season, compared with the same time in 2002.
Nielsen Media Research attributed much of the decline to an increased
use of video games and DVDs.
VIDEO GAMES
9 percent increase in video game usage among men ages 18 to 24 in 2003.
The U.S. video game market did $10.3 billion worth of business in 2002,
surpassing North American box office receipts.
MOVIES
$8.9 billion domestic box office gross for 2003, down 4 percent
compared with 2002's $9.3 billion. Home video sales now account for
nearly 60 percent of Hollywood's revenue.
DVDS
$12 billion in DVD sales in 2003, a significant jump from 2002's $8.7
billion. Consumers spent an additional $4.3 billion renting titles in
the format, up 53 percent from the year before. 17 DVD titles were
purchased per player in 2003 -- nearly three times the number of VHS
titles bought during that format's peak year, 1996. Last year, half of
U.S. households were equipped with at least one DVD player. Endquote.

Global Power, Really. John Pilger speech, 12 Jan 04..
A courageous well researched internationally respected reporter, John Pilger,
recently gave a speech countering the mainstream media view of world
power. The following excerpts show his passion. He is worth a read;

"Power, Propaganda and Conscience in The War On Terror" John Pilger: University of Western Australia 12 January 2004
...I am a reporter, who values bearing witness. That is to say, I
place paramount importance in the evidence of what I see, and hear, and
sense to be the truth, or as close to the truth as possible. By
comparing this evidence with the statements, and actions of those with
power, I believe it's possible to assess fairly how our world is
controlled and divided, and manipulated and how language and debate are
distorted and a false consciousness developed.
When we speak
of this in regard to totalitarian societies and dictatorships, we call
it brainwashing: the conquest of minds. It's a notion we almost never
apply to our own societies... There is no difference, in the principle
of the law, between the action of the German regime in the late 1930s
and the Americans in 2003. Fuelled by religious fanaticism, a corrupt
Americanism and corporate greed, the Bush cabal is pursuing what the
military historian Anatol Lieven calls "the classic modern strategy of
an endangered right-wing oligarchy, which is to divert discontent into
nationalism".═ Bush's America, he warns, "has become a menace to itself
and to mankind."
Pilger ends on positive note :
...Because I think a great many people are beginning to listen to
that quality of humanity that is the antidote to rampant power and its
bedfellow: racism. It's called conscience.═ We all have it, and some
are always moved to act upon it. Franz Kafka wrote: "You can
hold back from the suffering of the world, you have free permission to
do so and it is in accordance with your nature, but perhaps this very
holding back is the one suffering that you could have avoided."
...I offer these words of Mahatma Gandhi: "First, they ignore," he
said. "Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win."
Evolving Children : Indigo Kids and Star Kids. Richard Boylan PhD emails his description of Star Children.
Highly recommended reading for teachers and parents; take from it what makes sense to you and your experiences, and don't worry re the rest.
As our global children under 13 years, the Ferals, create a
different relationship with their world, and thus create a different
world, the older generations are attempting to make sense of these
kids. The Ferals do not need to make logical sense of their world; they live it holistically.
The following item by American Richard Boylan neatly summarises much
of the discussion, sometimes debate, re certain highly evolved children
whom many wrinklies are labeling either Indigo Children or Star Children.
I have no time for rival factions re labels - who cares what they are
labeled - pay attention and interact with the attributes displayed by
these kids. And prepare for a world which reflects more of their impact.
